About Us

Bobbie Foster, W-EMT-B

Bobbie has been involved in outdoor recreation education since 1988. As an employee of the University of California at San Francisco Medical School outdoor program "Outdoors Unlimited" she served as the coordinator of the whitewater canoeing program, a back country skiing leader/instructor, a back packing leader, budgets manager, publicity coordinator and risk management supervisor. In 1994, she found her true passion in the field of first aid. She served as First Aid Coordinator and Lead Instructor from 1994 to 2001. Her attention to detail and organizational skills are legendary. For her teaching first aid is more than a career: it is a labor of love that is her way of giving back to her community.

Foster Atwood, WEMT-Br

"Atwood" met Bobbie in 1996, took one of her first aid classes and then married her. OK, there is more to the story than that but it sounds like a great endorsement doesn't it? Atwood is a wilderness/urban EMT who has been teaching with Bobbie since 1996. Until recently,he was working as an EMT in Placer County. Now he is in nursing school, working towards becoming an RN. He draws upon his experience as an outdoors enthusiast/leader and emergency services provider to give a real world perspective to all instruction. He loves to teach and it shows. "My goal is to make our classes as practical and engaging as possible. If you are accustomed to long winded theoretical lectures that leave you dreading first aid classes you are in for a surprise".

Our Volunteer Instructors

After every class there is one or two students who want to get more involved and learn more about first aid. In response to their enthusiasm we say "come help teach". Our volunteer instructors feel that teaching helps keep their first aid skills sharp, their knowledge current plus it's a lot of fun. The commitment of our family of volunteers is truly inspiring. We are grateful for their continued support. Our students gain the added benefit of their experience and more individualized instruction.
